  • Conquer Your Leftovers: Wife Wednesday

Hello Dolls! Let’s admit it, there’s been times the leftovers aren’t going fast enough. We never want it to seem like eating leftovers is a chore. We don’t want to waste food and yet after the 3rd plate, leftovers seem a bit uninspired. Here are ways you can conquer your leftovers and create a new meal! Leftover Rice? Seasoning Time! A great way to revamp plain white rice, is by add seasoning! Go for a New Orleans style Dirty Rice, by primarily adding in creole seasoning. Or you can turn the white rice into fried rice by adding in soy sauce! Want a simple fix of flavoring? Warm the rice on the stove with chicken broth and seasoning of your choice! Don’t Leave out your Vegetables! This is the healthier option. Chop up some broccoli or spinach, season then cook! Another good vegetable would be cooked chopped sweet bell peppers. Simply add it into the rice. Turn it into a Casserole! Make rice brand new by adding in chicken or beef broth or cream of mushroom. Give a good mix, season to your liking, add chopped veggies or meat, then top shredded cheese! This is one of my favorite quick & easy meals under 30 minutes. Leftover Pasta? Add a New Sauce! Whether it’s red sauce or white sauce you can mix the two! Warm new sauce in a separate pot and reheat pasta on low heat (don’t over cook it!) Adding grated Parmesan adds texture & flavor or you can add shredded cheese! Add a new protein of your choice & a side! Adding New Side Dishes is a Great Way to Renew a Leftover meal. Look to Salads, Steamed Vegetables, Rolls and Bread to Compliment Your New Dish! Leftover Protein? Chicken, Fish, Beef, etc. Divide & Conquer Simply cutting up leftover chicken and adding it into a new meal is great way to make use of leftovers. Reheat It Be careful of your method of heating up your protein. On low heat, you can reheat your chicken on a grill or in the oven, which adds a new element to the taste! Switch up the Carbs Leftover chicken from rice dinner? Keep the chicken, add a pasta. And vice versa! Add a New Element! Sauce or Vegetables When it’s time to reheat, choose a method to where you can add new flavors to cook with it. Add in bell peppers, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms or whatever you have left in your refrigerator. Reheating meat in a sauce is a great way to reimagine a meal. Add gravy, cook in tomato sauce or glaze it! Need Inspiration? If you’re having a recipe road block, use apps to give you new dinner ideas! I love looking to Pinterest to get recipe ideas from food bloggers. You may find a food blogger you love & stick with! In the past I’ve used this app called Yummly. Type in what ingredients you have and it generates thousands of recipes for your choosing. You also get to put in your preferences which allows you to avoid certain recipes. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, allergic to nuts or you may need it done in less than 30 minutes, you’ll be able to filter thoroughly. What’s your favorite way to REVIVE your leftovers? Which tip is your favorite? Let’s Chat, Dolls. Always with Love, Ebony Nikita

  • Feminine Beauty Favorites of the Month

Hello Dolls, In this past month I have added new products to my beauty favorites! It’s so important that we are taking care of ourselves. Primping and pampering is a must. These products have become apart of my everyday pampering routine. On my channel, I’ve already uploaded my said review on each product! {We’re almost to 300 subscribers! YAYYY} WATCH NOW: https://youtu.be/SAOybV5Jo3g MY CURRENT FAVORITES 1. Estée Lauder Double Wear Mineral Rich Powder 3.0 If I could describe this product with 2 phrases it would be: FULL COVERAGE & FLAWLESS FINISH Use with a makeup brush for a lighter coverage or use with the compact sponge for a full coverage effect. I love the pigmentation of this powder. I use this as a brightening powder under my eyes. Like any finishing powder, you should find a compatible concealer with this powder. The first concealer I used with this product was the Fenty Beauty Pro Filter concealer. I loved that concealer until I realized how easily it broke up by the end of the day. This powder was not very forgiving when I paired it with the Fenty concealer. Yet, with my other concealers it worked out beautifully. I think they're sold out of this exact powder! I’m sad because I am in love with this one, but luckily I have a lot left. Nonetheless, here is a similar Estée Lauder pigmented powder that may still get the job done. Click the pic down below! Estée Lauder Perfecting Loose Powder 2. Growth Nail Polish It’s those small details that matter. One of those details are NAILS! Although I featured a different brand in my episode, this is my beloved and favorite nail growth polish! This line has multiple polishes for your nail needs. They have a solution for weak nails, soft and peeling, hard and brittle and more. I personally used this one, which I bought from Sally Beauty. I was AMAZED because my nails grew within a week. This can be applied under OR over your nail polish! I personally love to use it as a top coat. 3. Peach and Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum The one and the only! Glass skin serum. I’ve used this product for over a year now and I still love it. The amount of product given in the bottle is plenty to last you over a year, like me. I adore the results you get from using this your first week and every day. It smooths your skin’s texture beautifully and it calms and diminishes any blemish of mine. I favor using this before makeup. This is my daily skincare MUST-HAVE. BONUS: Peach & Lily is CLEAN BEAUTY! 4. Silky Skin Custard For your body, I love using this product on my face and hair as a moisturizer and on my body. The texture is similar to raw African Shea butter once you rub it in. I love the versatility of this product and all of the great benefits. Simple, clean, organic and vegan ingredients make this product one of my favorites. It is important that we know what we are putting on our body. I can trust this product to work. I personally haven’t tracked my results, but I may begin to this month! Any beauty favorites you’d like to share? Comment down below! I love trying new products. Let’s Chat, Doll. Wishing you peace and good health, Ebony Nikita

  • Fall in Love with Cooking: Wife Wednesday

Hello Dolls! As a wife, it’s very important that we take care of our home! One way to do so is by providing our family with full bellies. Some of us are naturally gifted in the kitchen whether it’s cooking or baking. I personally favor baking due to my untamable sweet tooth! Now is the time to fall in love with your kitchen. If you’re like me, you’re home all day which means you’re in and out of the kitchen constantly. In my opinion, cooking shouldn’t feel like a chore. If you aren’t the best, I encourage you to learn to love it. Food is a beautiful thing! You don’t have to whip out a 9-course meal. It takes patience and experimenting to create the perfect dish. Although mamas’ and grandmas’ recipe books are all in their heads, so they don’t usually write it down, they are a great source for learning. If you’re already in love with cooking, but wiped out on recipes then I have a simple and delicious one for you down below. As the Dominican Princess it’s only right for me to give you a Caribbean delight! Be sure to send & tag me in your pictures! • What to do on Slow Days & During Quarantine

Hello Dolls! In the midst of this madness, many of us wives may be working from home or relaxing at home. My husband says the silver lining of everyone being home is the ability to spend more time with God. Amen to that. Now of course, I’ve had my leisurely days that has kinda of...just...rolled by without me doing anything productive. We all need those days. Unfortunately those days can turn into “boring“ days. To help solve that issue, I’m encouraging all of us Dolls to busy ourselves. This will help stop the days that seem to roll past us. The last thing we want is to feel like we came out of quarantine without any shown progress, accomplishment or growth. Here are things we can all do during this quarantine: 1. Finish that Good Book Raise your hand if you have a book that you bought, but never finished. It’s almost like it’s there, but it’s too far to reach. For some of us this could be a romance novel, a business guide or the Bible. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through our beloved phone, let’s upgrade our hobby to reading. As for the Bible, it would be a great idea to start Bible study group with you husband or you can video group call your friends for Bible study. 2. Finish that Task You’ve Avoided (or never started) Goodness this list could go on and on for some of us. It may be deep cleaning one area of your home, decluttering that disaster of a closet, or getting to that painting you‘ve always wanted to start. Take one day and decide to finish that task. You’ll thank yourself for it later. 3. Take Care of Yourself I know there’s moms and wives out there, who usually does not have the moment for posh time & primping. I would encourage you to plan just one hour out of your day to do one act of self-care. Whether it is doing a face mask or painting your nails, take the time to give yourself a short break by primping. 4.Try that Sweet Recipe As many of you know, I love to bake. This is the perfect time to add some sweetness into your family’s life! Bake with your family or try that new recipe you’ve always adored. There are many baking recipes that require few ingredients and they still taste delicious! Cookies, muffins and pound cakes are great choices that only require little ingredients. 5. Plan the Romantic Stay-At-Home Date Now is the time to add the sweet to the bitter. Its a great time to eat dinner, share a dessert and snuggle up to a good movie. Simply preparing a baked good, after dinner, can turn a regular dinner into a romantic night. Add some candles, dress your table in it’s best tablecloth, play some mood music and you have yourself a romantic date! Me and my husband personally love to play a board game after dinner. Theres always card games or movies that you and your husband can enjoy! How are you staying productive at home? What activity is occupying your days? Mine would have to be creative cooking, FaceTiming my family & planning out my YouTube channel and blog! What’s yours? Tell me in the comment section! Let’s Chat, Doll. Always with Love, Ebony Nikita

  • Tissues, Please! For Our Marriage Issues: Newlywed Tips

Hello Dolls! Happy Wife Wednesday! I’m very excited for this new weekly segment for anything & everything having to do with being a WIFE! By the grace of God, my husband and I made it through our first year of marriage. Any married couple knows what I mean. So don’t feel alone, if you are dealing with issues or problems! A VERY important topic that ALL relationships go through is CONFLICTS. The killer to a peaceful rest and enjoying one’s company. Or more noticeably to men, conflict is a true killer of bedroom time & to women, it’s a true killer of romance and intimacy. Conflict usuallly stops us married couples from doing the special thing that leads up to God’s call for us to “be fruitful & multiply”. It doesn’t HAVE to be that way, but we’re human, we are flesh and sometimes it’s just that hard to overcome conflict. Whether the issue is BIG or small, it is still an issue that needs to be settled. There is such a diversity and complexity to everyones marriage. Sometimes it could be hard to explain and share with others. I’m here to help. The important thing to remember is that where there is Yahweh, there is a way. Tips to Help Battle Conflicts & Issues 1. Take a Deep Breath. It’s easy to get overemotional about conflicts between you and your husband. It’s okay to be emotional! If you have to cry, then cry. If you need a moment to gather yourself then take a moment. We’re women. And proud to be women. For some of us, crying is our way of coping, releasing and detoxing an issue. 2. Talk it out. Communication is KEY. Its wise to pick and choose your battles, but to leave issues left unsaid is foolish. You don’t want to mimic a volcano and wait until you‘re full of anger or sadness to blow up! Take a few minutes to clearly voice your concern, issue or suggestion. Even if you do not find a solution right away, its important that you PINPOINT the issue. Focus on the MAIN problem. Voice it. Stay on topic. It’s very easy to get into an argument and go off topic. Even if things get off topic, REFOCUS & RECENTER the issue. 3. Don’t Run Away from Help. If you are really going through it and the valley is deep and dark, then GET HELP. Go to someone you can TRUST. Preferably talk to your pre-martial counselors, to a trusted married couple, your pastor or reverend or a trusted member of your church’s community. I believe EVERY married couple knows that marriage is not easy nor perfect. It’s better to outsource and get the help you truly need than to fake a smile & stay in the same bad spot. 4. DON’T VENT to JUST ANYBODY We ALL need to vent. I get it. I’m the same way. Yet you NEVER want to complain and complain to your bestie about your husband. When you are saying only the bad things about your marriage and NONE of the good, then often times, your friend will loose respect for your husband and your marriage or lessen the right type of support. 5. Join a LIFE GROUP/Church Support Group Surround yourself with God-seeking people! Not only will they be a great example, you will have that faith-filled support you NEED. You will be able to vent honestly to other Christians who are going through, have been or getting over a similar situation as you. 6. Be the Change You want to See. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can” Focus on yourself! If you dont see the change for the better, then YOU should make it! If you want something changed then you need to initiate it without expecting something in return. That is the way of the Lord that we should follow in general. 7. Don‘t Push God Out of Your Marriage Marriage is between a wife, a husband and God. Make sure you and your husband are practicing good habits with God. Simply praying together every morning and every night is a great way to connect. Choose a different day out of the week for 1-on-1 Marriage Bible study. You and your husband can read along with a video or a Bible plan to go over marriage, love and relationships. Little acts may result in a BIG reward. Although marriage can be tough, it is a beautiful gift that God has given you. Always remind yourself of your blessings and never let ANYTHING distract you from it. What is one of your solutions for overcoming marriage issues? Comment down below. Let’s Chat Doll. With Love, Ebony Nikita
