Hello Dolls, Happy Housewife Wednesday to you. I have been in the mood to detox my home from clutter and refresh it with visually-pleasing organization. There are certain areas in my home that are prone to disorganization. For my home, it would be the bathroom linen closet, pantry and refrigerator. These are common places that me and my husband use daily so its quite easy to get disorganized. As a homemaker, organizing these areas are apart of my cleaning routine. Yet, I'd like to make those areas of my home more functional, more organized and overall pretty ! When you open a refrigerator, you want to have a clear view of your food. You want your food to be organized and placed in a visually pleasing way. Its apart of the experience. That is the same way you'd want to feel when you open your pantry and closet. I am on a quest to achieve my organized home goals in those three areas. I also want to keep it under the budget of $60 per area. Hello Dolls! It is a new year and it feels good. While we are writing our New Years Resolutions, let's be sure to add growth within our femininity too! 2021 is the year of DEFINING & REFINING. In my episode " How to be More Feminine in 2021 & Glow Up ", I shared tips on truly glowing up within this beautiful year. Here is my final tip to truly having a FEMININE GLOW UP! TIP #5 Take yourself seriously and practice SELF CARE When someone has truly glowed up, it is because they are taking care of themselves. Through the outside and the inside they are putting effort into caring for themselves. When you do choose to take care of yourself, it shows. This year, let's be 100% intentional and consistent about it. We all may have different ways of practicing self care, but either way cater to your needs. I believe practicing self care is an individualistic way to truly putting yourself first. My practice of self care may be a trip to the spa every month and reading my romance novel at the end of the night. Yours may be writing in your journal and going to the salon every 2 weeks. Either way, we are doing what's best for us. Define what your definition of self care is, then refine it, by pinpointing the activities which lead you to feeling relaxed, cared for and loved. If you are a bit inconsistent due to the busyness of life then consider creating a wall calendar, planner or memo for your weekly and monthly self care activities. Hello Dolls! I thoroughly enjoyed the month of October. To me, this is the official month of the fall season. This month was also my birthday month. You seen me “ Welcome in the Fall Season ” in my ‘Housewife Diary’ vlog series. I got to fully experience the joys of the fall season by decorating, baking and cooking. From luxury skincare to classic fashion to timeless jewelry, I loved the new buys and goodies from the month of October. OCTOBER FAVORITES 1. Ralph Lauren Cardigan: I have been in love with this RL cardigan for this fall season. As I said in my Fall/Winter Feminine & Elegant Capsule Wardrobe, I wear this cardigan when I am on the go. I throw this on when I need to feel chic on a casual day, but still feel warm and cozy. The emblem on the right-hand side is charming and classic. The prep school style is in trend for this fall season so this cardigan achieves that feel. 2. 'Delna 'Sunglasses from Aldo Although I'm not constantly on the go, when I do leave I am constantly reaching for a chic pair of sunnies. These are a simple yet chic pair of sunglasses. It has a chic gold accent along the side. I am currently building a small sunglasses collection and so far these are my favorite. 3. Dior Prestige Texture Essentielle Luxury skincare has always captivated my attention. Anything Dior does just the same. Dior's Prestige skincare line has always interested me and the claims on this product called me to purchase it. I will be doing a full review on Dior Skincare in the near future. I want to thoroughly test out popular Dior skincare products. So far, I have enjoyed this product. 4. Ana Luisa 'Hope' Pearl Drop Earrings I have been in love with these pearl earrings. To: Homemakers & Aspiring From: Ebony Nikita For: Tips for a Smoother Homemaking Lifestyle Hello Dolls! Since I have married, I taken on my journey of being a wonderful housewife to my husband. I have learned so much from being a homemaker and I am still learning. I have been able to recognize what I am good at and what I can improve in. Based on my experiences, I want to bring you Dolls my TOP TIPS regarding the HEALTHY HABITS HOMEMAKERS should have. Watch: HOMEMAKING HABITS 1. Make your Homemaking Schedule Having a homemaking schedule is very important. Whether you plan it out in your head, write it in a planner, or you write it on your wall calendar, create a homemaking schedule that works best for you. Map out what days work for which tasks. If you are a bit more laissez-faire, then at least list the tasks you'd like to complete every week. This may be weekly tasks such as cleaning the bathroom, sweeping the porch, or vacuuming every room. I have recently created a new homemaking schedule. I noticed how disorganized and overwhelmed I felt when I was not following one. I started a new schedule, my husband started a new schedule and life got busier. When life got busier, I should've took the initiative to adjust my schedule to better suit me and my husband's needs. Now I have learned to adjust and reform my homemaking schedule whenever I need to. It helps me feel better. It helps life goes smoother. Months ago that schedule worked, but now life has changed and so should my homemaking schedule. With my little story, the coordinating tip is to adjust or change your homemaking schedule as needed. If you realize you aren't getting to everything you've planned on your schedule, then change it. Schedules are made to work for you, you shouldn't be working for the schedule. Why force a homemaking schedule to work? That's what I tried doing. I tried forcing the schedule to work. If I'm finding myself trying to work around my homemaking schedule, then the schedule is wrong. It is no longer necessary and it is time for a new one. I wanted to feel like I was keeping to my housewife schedule which meant I was being a good housewife. Now I know that my homemaking schedule should be working for me. Its made to help me. Its made to make my life easier and organized. (Soon I will share my new homemaking schedule with you Dolls. I will share it on my blog and on my YouTube schedule.) 2. Be Accommodating to Your Husband For all of my married ladies, you may understand how important it is serve your husband. God calls us to serve others in his Name. Those others could be strangers, friends and family. So that includes your husband. The reason for my explanation is because sometimes others who aren't married or who may have had bad experiences may think contrary to this. I believe being a homemaker is a gift. Being a homemaker is hard work and I enjoy it very much. Yet, it is a luxury that many women may not be able to have. In this day and age, being a homemaker is very rare. If you are a black woman like me, then it is almost unheard of in these times. Years ago, there were a lot of black homemakers but due to the hardships in the past, its nearly rare. Yet, that is a different conversation for another much needed episode and blog post. Like I was saying before, being a homemaker is a blessing and apart of that blessing is the ability to be there for your family when they need you. I am happy that when my husband comes home I can tend to his needs. I gather his things like his laptop, jacket, shoes, etc. and I am able to put them away for him when he is too tired to. I am able to do tasks and errands for him. As a homemaker, it is a habit to make it a routine to be accommodating to your husband. Once he is home, check on him. See if he needs something done that you can do or help him with. You will notice how appreciative he will be towards you and how much more at ease he will be throughout his day. Not only is it a good habit to be accommodating to your husband when he comes home, it is great to do so when he away. Situate certain things in the home to make it more accommodating for him. Simply organizing every day areas that uses would be a great example. My husband loves it when those picky ways of his are met. haha. That means if he likes something one way, I'll do it that way just for him. That is love. 3. Primp & Pamper Yourself Every Single Day Have you ever had 'one of those days' to where you're a bit more sluggish or its a 'cleaning day' so it's just pajamas and slippers for you ALL DAY. I typically despise those days because I feel equally sluggish the next day. To combat that cycle, its important to put efforts into your appearance every single day. Now this does not mean you have put on a full face of makeup EVERY SINGLE DAY. I don't do that either. Yet, I do make sure I am at least primping myself. I may put my hair into a low bun or maybe adorn it with a classic ribbon. I may wear my light makeup routine, as I've shown you Dolls in my ' Quick & Easy Feminine Wife Makeup Tutorial '. If you Dolls have seen any of my Feminine Elegance at Home Lookbooks then you know I have a separate wardrobe comprised of housewife loungewear. This truly saves me from looking and feeling sluggish. Either way I make sure that I am primping myself for the day. When you do so, you are welcoming the day with productivity. We all know as homemakers, it's very important to be productive. Therefore start off your day by primping and pampering yourself. Also, every night I have my skincare routine. That is apart of pampering myself. I haven't been able to make it to the spa for a good deep treatment on my skin. I decided to purchase a facial steamer and it has really made me feel like I'm back at the spa! Its my 10 minutes of relaxation before I go to sleep. 4. Pre-Plan Your Meals I don't think I could say this enough. I have been in the position to where I am cleaning majority of the day then I realize its nearing dinner time and I don't know what to cook. Either I have an idea in my head, but then I'm lacking the ingredients. Take a day in your Homemaking Schedule to plan a collection of meals for the week. I preferably love to have at least 3 quick and easy meals, in case life becomes too busy. It's important to have options for breakfast and lunch just as much as dinner. You want you and your family to be satisfied throughout the day with good meals. To me that is a sign of the rich, when everyone has a good meal to eat throughout the day. That includes a good breakfast, a healthy lunch and a filling dinner. As homemakers it's important that we have these prepared and available for our family. When I was just starting out as homemaker, I was very excited to begin cooking these elaborate meals. Yet, sometimes I felt overwhelmed and I would spend over 10 minutes trying to figure out a new recipe to create. That is where pre-planning comes in. I still do enjoy cooking new meals but now I value having a collection of staple recipes that I can cook effortlessly. These are quick, no-brainers, I-can-do-this-in-my-sleep type of meals. The best part about the meals is that these meals satisfies effortlessly. 5. Start a Homemaking Hobby With caring for your home 24/7, there needs to be a time to where you can care for yourself. You need to be able to relax and have some type of enjoyment purely focusing on you and your interests. When I first married, I viewed me being a wife as a new journey and role to fulfill. I was very excited and determined to become the best wife to my husband. While doing so, I realized I was not making time for myself. I used to draw, sew and paint more often. Since I was married, at least 5 months in, I hadn't done any of that. My lack of hobbies was not caused by my husband's needs or the business of life. It was caused by my own negligence. I remember feeling homesick, feeling like I really changed and I didn't know how to feel about it. I realized those combinations of emotions were connected to me not making time for myself. No one else is going to remind you every day to do that hobby that you left months or years ago. It's up to you to find something you enjoy and pursue it for your own enjoyment. Once you're able to take that break from everyday tasks and enjoy your hobby, you will be surprised on how you feel for the rest of the day and week. Some of my hobbies would be: baking, sewing, decorating table settings and painting. There are many traditional hobbies that us homemakers would fancy. I'm also able to wear the Lady Dior to date nights, brunch dates, shopping trips, dressy casual rendezvous and more. As I discussed in the 'Whats in My Bag' video, I wouldn't dress this style down in a pair of jeans & T-shirt. The handbag is far too elegant to be worn with casual clothing such as sweats or leggings. Nevertheless, I will note that the more masculine versions of the Lady Dior like the Matte Lady Dior, tends to pair better with the T-shirt & jeans look. I would still pair that outfit with a pair of J'aDior low heels to balance out the ensemble. Wear what you'd like. At the end of the day, certain outfits look better than others, and certain pieces compliment each other better. If you would like the Lady Dior, but you want a handbag that mixes well with your everyday outfits, I would recommend the Lady D-Lite. Its another variation of the classic Lady Dior, but it is made of embroidered canvas. It still holds the iconic Lady Dior shape, but with an everyday-friendly material. If you would like to keep the leather exterior, but still have a more versatile luxury handbag, I’d recommend the Medium Chanel Coco Handle in caviar leather. This one is on my luxury wishlist ;) It’s a top handle and crossbody like the Lady Dior. It’s stunning & you’re able to dress up or down due to it's simpler quilting. I would choose the Coco Handle medium in black. In my opinion, the size small doesn't fit a lot. Is it an everyday purse? In the small size, I wouldn’t say this is an everyday purse due to the size & functionality. I think of an everyday purse as being durable, carefree, and versatile. How could this be an everyday purse? This could be an everyday purse for the lady who carries only the basic essentials such as a phone, wallet, lipstick, earphones + a bonus item. If those are your everyday handbag needs, then the small Lady Dior could be your go-to. Personally, I like to have the extra space in my everyday bag. Also, I don’t want to worry about rain or getting it wet or accidentally dirtying the purse during my coffee stops & grocery runs. Usually, I like to carry a standard water bottle, my husband’s wallet (just to keep it safe 😉) and maybe a small planner to make me feel like I’m being productive, but I never actually use it. I, at least, want the option. Due to the size, you don’t get the extra option, but if these items rarely apply to you & you dress up quite often, then yes, this could be an everyday purse. If I wanted this style as an everyday purse, I would prefer the Lady Dior in the Medium size. Thoughts on the Durability? By the way, this lambskin isn’t as sensitive as the Chanel lambskin, so don’t worry too much. The lambskin is buttery smooth, but its quite durable. The only scratches I tend to notice is on the flap. In the video , I show you the wear on the flap after 3 years of use. You can only see micro-scratches and it becomes noticeable in certain light. In my opinion, it's not anything to be too concerned about. It doesn't bother me since its not very noticeable. It's just simple surface scratches.   Who would I recommend this to?   I would recommend this as a going-out purse, go shopping, date nights, teatime, coffee & drinks with the ladies. I wear this purse nearly anytime me & husband goes out or if I’m meeting my sister. My going-out style is more dressy casual. So whether my outfit pulls more dressy or actually dressy casual, this purse pairs well. I would highly recommend this purse to any elegant lady. To me, this is the most feminine & elegant purse in the prestigious world of classic luxury handbags. Style-wise, I see the Lady Dior as the most princessy handbag, so that caters to my feminine & girly style aspirations. This comes in different colors, materials & variations so it’s the perfect way to elevate your wardrobe, no matter your personal style. It’s like carrying around a lovely jewelry box or an art piece. If this suits your lifestyle, then I’d say it’s a great choice. Always remember how many times would you actually wear this. For any purse you buy, its important to consider cost-per-wear and pinpoint the reason why you want to buy it and your intended use for it. If you’re a mom who is constantly busy & need a catch-all, this size may not be right for you, perhaps the medium or large in lambskin or even the D-lite version. Same recommendations for the college student or everyday lady at work.  Yet, if you’d like a quality, timeless ‘going-out’ purse, no matter your title, then I believe this is a great choice. In terms of my fellow housewives, I wouldn’t take this for errands, grocery store trips or farmer market runs. It’s a nice piece of luxury, so you’re naturally more careful.   I would say this is a gorgeous purse that I would like to have in multiple colors & variations. Dior creates the prettiest pinks that aren’t too juvenile & a bit more romantic & versatile when matching with pinks in your wardrobe. I’d love this in velvet or satin or even in their art pieces of the Lady Dior. So, yes. The Lady Dior is doll-approved. Let's Chat, Dolls Price Increases Last year, I was thinking about purchasing another small lambskin Lady Dior in the color blush. The price at the time was $4700. Now looking at the price, a small Lady Dior is $5,600. Within a year, the price has went up by almost $1000. This isn't only unique to Dior. Chanel price increases are also a hot topic, since it increases every year and the price increased 4x times in 2021. With that being said, is the Lady Dior worth the $5,600 price tag? In all honesty, I don't believe any handbag is worth over $5000. Not even $3000. Yet, in the luxury world of luxury items, every item has a set price tag based on quality, brand, rarity, uniqueness and prestige. Based on those factors, I would purchase the small Lady Dior based on its current price. The quality of the Lady Dior is exceptional and more than that, I fancy the brand. The handbag is durable for a lambskin purse, the details are luxury itself and I find the Lady Dior to be easily functional and oh so elegant . If I had to buy only one luxury handbag in a lifetime, it would be this one. Reselling, The Investment & Buying Pre-Loved The resell value of the Lady Dior is a common conversation in the luxury handbag community. In the current market, if you try to resell your Lady Dior you shouldn't expect a full return on investment. Expect to sell it for a lower amount than what you purchased it for. Chanel handbags are infamous for reselling at the same price as it was purchased or even for a higher amount depending on the rarity and market demand. That isn't common for the Lady Dior, which bring us the question, is the Lady Dior a good investment? If you see yourself possibly reselling your Lady Dior in the future, then it may not be the best investment per say. If you're ever in a tight spot and you're in need, you can still expect the Lady Dior to sell at a decent price. Unfortunately, within the past years, it is clear that the Lady Dior does not hold it's value. That bring us to the next option. Buy new or pre-loved? Buying a gently used Lady Dior may be the better option for you if you consider the return on investment. Its common for some luxury handbag-lovers to buy rare, sold out, hard-to-find or like-new Chanel, LV, Hermes & Dior items on the resale market. After months of searching, I tracked down a rare Dior item & finally purchased it and unboxed in my ' Live a Soft Life with Me ' vlog. If you choose to explore that option, be sure to purchase from a reputable website or luxury consignment store. Learn more about the process, inspect the item and be sure to request proof of authenticity. Christian Dior's Lady Dior vs. Chanel Classic Flap As many fashion students can relate, when you're starting out early in your journey, you tend to favor a fashion designer and use their story or designs as inspiration. For me, my favorite designer growing up was Christian Dior, therefore I value Dior's classic designs more dearly than others. If I decided Coco Chanel's journey, ideals and designs connected with me more, then I'd probably value and favor Chanel handbags more than the Lady Dior. At the end of the day, the emotional connection and memories impact my decision on buying luxury handbags. Some ladies view Chanel handbags as the creme de la creme , the ultimate achievement in their wardrobe, due to the glamorous movies they watched as young girls. I believe you should consider all factors, including quality, price, style, functionality, ROI, and connection, before deciding if the small Lady Dior or any handbag is ' worth it '.
